Control-click
The fact that you can use Control-click to open URLs in Gnome Terminal is not very discoverable. (Just clicking doesn't do anything; perhaps this is to avoid breaking text selection?) I can't remember how I found out about it myself, but somebody I pointed it out to recently was delighted that they didn't have to use the context menu to open URLs, so I think it deserves wider publicity.

yes we need to kill the abbundant reliance of context menu! :).

Simple idea
Maybe just show the shortcut in the context menu as in done in application menu's (Ie,Edit->Undo shows CTRL+Z)

Fancy controversial/bloat idea
Instead of underline on hover. We could draw a "context menu/action bar" on hover+delay? Still a bit icky if requires doing "Move mouse, aim, stop, click" twice.

I have no skills though ;)

Wow...thanks. :) It definitely needs some kind of hint on the UI...maybe a tooltip?

Ah yes, the famous "dingus click". Unfortunately there's no standard way to reveal 'click shortcuts' to the user, web browsers have the same problem (you can usually ctrl-click, alt-click and/or shift-click on links there too, with varying results). Might be nice to try and think of one though.

Thank you for this.

Do what MS Outlook does:

Have it look like a link (which it does -- underlining on hover is good enough)
Have a tooltip pop up and say "Ctrl-Click to visit this link".

Immensely more discoverable (I never knew about ctrl-click) and quick n easy to implement

I use double-click on URL in Gnome Terminal and Klipper automatically proposes me to open it in Firefox or another browser.

Hmm, double-click doesn't do anything here. Is this something klipper-specific?

Yes, double-click in Gnome Terminal just selects and copies the link in the clipboard.

Klipper detects a change in the clipboard and detects an URL and so proposes to open it with a browser. It works with any application that uses the clipboard, not only Gnome Terminal.
